dc.description.abstract | Learning writing is not easy. One of the possible solutions is applying pictures as teaching media in teaching writing. Therefore the research was conducted with, the following problems: ls there any significant effect of using pictures on writing achievement which covers grammatical and vocabulary achievement of the second year students of SLTPN X Jember in the 2001 / 2002 academic year. The solution of the problem is the objective of this research. Pre-experimental with Randomized-group post-test only design was applied. The research respondents were two classes of the second year students taken by using cluster random sampling by lottery from six classes as the population. Class IIB and IIC were determined as the experimental group and the control group. Teacher made test was administered to get the main data that were analyzed by applying t-test formula with significant level of 95 %. The results showed that the following: There is a significant effect of using pictures on writing achievement which covers grammatical and vocabulary achievement of the second year students of SLTPN X Jember in the 2001 / 2002 academic year. In addition, the relative effectiveness of using pictures on students' writing achievement is 9,17 %, grammatical achievement of 9,07 % and vocabulary achievement of 9,13 %. Based on the result, The English teachers are suggested to use pictures in teaching English especially in teaching writing. Meanwhile, other researchers are suggested to use the research results as a reference to conduct a further research. | en_US |
