Keragaman Bahasa dan Budaya: Problematika dan Perannya dalam Komunikasi Antarbudaya

Abstract

Diversity of languages and cultures in the country and in the world often causes problems in the relationship of intercultural communication. Language can have a positive impact and be the glue in the state and nation if the users of language and cultural actors are not wrong in using and understanding the language and culture as a means of intercultural communication. Even foreign language user must be able to understand the culture of the native speakers of all languages. Errors in understanding the language and culture of an ethnic oder race can cause the racial conflict both between ethnic oder between nations. Therefore this paper will discuss some aspects related to the issue, namely: (1) problems of language in ethnic diversity, (2) an individual in another speech community, (3) language and language diversity as a distinguishing feature, (4) the importance of cultural understanding in intercultural communication.
