KETIDAKADILAN GENDER MELAHIRKAN IDE-IDE KARTINI DALAM MEMPERJUANGKAN HAK-HAK KAUM WANITA

Abstract

This article aims at discussing the making of Kartini’s ideas of woman imancipation. Her ideas were inseparated from the injustice suffered by Kartini in education and marriage coming from Fiber Candrarini’s letter undermining the status of women. Kartini was able to;produce progressive ideas while under customary seclusion aiming at preparing her as a proper female elite. During this seclusion she read many books and magazines inspiring her to formulate ideas of gender equality, especially in education and marriage. In education, women should obtain equal opportunities as men and women in marriage should be an equal partner to man. To achive her ideas, Kartini established NFE for girls in the vicinity. Kartini also advocated the formation of workshops that would improve the quality of Jepara carving.
