Garcinia mangostana belong to the family Cluciaceae which is has used as phitomedicine for the treatment of diarrhea, anti-inflammatory, antiallergy, antifungal, and skin infection. The present study was aimed to investigate the antibacterial activity of etyl acetat extract from mangosteen pericarp against Streptococus mutans. Antibacterial activity was examined by determining the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) using agar dilution method. The inhibition values of extract against S. mutans were ranged from 10-400 ppm. The result showed that the extract was effective against S. mutans. The MIC value was 12.5 ppm that was comparable to these of tetracycline, an antibactery used as control.en_US
