dc.description.abstract | Exclusive breastfeed is the best natural nutrition for infants with the most proper
nutrition content to help them grow optimally. Recently, it has been taken over by
formulated milk. The intake of formulated milk may affect the infant’s nutritional
status as well as its infection’s status. The most commonly known form of infection to
infants with formulated milk is diarrhea. The objective of this research is finding out
the variation on the nutrition and infection status of the infants with exclusive
breastfeed compared to those with formulated milk intake. This research is an
observational analytical descriptive one, with cross sectional design. This research
involves 148 infants as its sample. To find out the infant’s nutrition status, a measure
is performed on the infant’s weight and length, followed by conducting chi-square
testing. Questions regarding the incidence of infections (if any), during the recent
months are asked afterwards, followed by another chi-square testing to observe the
variation. The result confirms the variation on nutrition status, as shown by the pvalue
of 0.000 (p<0.05). Regarding the infection status of the infants with exclusive
breastfeed and those with formulated milk intake, a significant variation is generated
as shown by the p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). The conclusion of this research states that
the variation on the nutrition status and the infection status of the infants with
exclusive breastfeed and formulated milk intake exists, respectively. | en_US |
