dc.description.abstractThis article discusses the 2008 Situbondo flood. It focuses on the process of flood, its economic and social impacts and the responses by the government and community. Drawing upon diverse historical materials, the article combines document and oral history methods. The 2008 flood was one of the major disasters occurring in Situbondo having extensive economic and social impact on the society. The event attracted the flows of aid and sympathy from the the government and other parties both corporate and individuals to help the victims. There was a problem of uneven aid distribution emerging, but the response made by the government and the members of society seem to have quite effective in containing the threat of flood.en_US
