dc.description.abstractThis thesis is entitled “A lexical cohesion analysis on an Informative Text in The Jakarta Post”. The problems discussed in this thesis are to describe the application of lexical cohesion on the article in The Jakarta Post and to find out whether lexical cohesion can make the text coherent and unified. This thesis uses library research by reading some books in the library to find out concepts that are relevant to the theoretical framework of this thesis. The data of this study is collected from written text. The data is qualitative data that is in the form of description. Documentary (bibliographical) study is applied to this study as the technique of data collection, and the data are taken from the article in the Jakarta post which is published in 9 September 2008. This study is a descriptive study describing the lexical cohesion, such as repetition, synonym, antonym, hyponym, cohyponym, meronym, comeronym and collocation.en_US
