dc.description.abstract | Medical waste is toxic, infectious, dangerous or harmful unless it carried a certain
safety phase of medical waste management. Staff role is affecting the implementation
phase of the medical waste management. This study is analytical and the design of
study used is cross-sectional study. Sampling techniques in the study was conducted
using cluster random sampling technique, with a sample of medical staff by 9 people,
13 people of nurses, 14 people of midwives, 4 people of pharmacist, 8 people of waste
manager. The analyzed using spearmen correlation test with α = 0.005. The study
results show that there is a relationship between the level of staff knowledge about
the phases of medical waste management with the staff behavior in the waste
management phase, α = 0.003; There is a relationship between the staff attitudes
about the phase of waste management with the staff behavior in the medical waste
management phase, α = 0.000. Based on these results, it is expected that the health
center in Jember should be equipped with facilities and infrastructure and a
counseling or training for health center staff about medical waste, including source,
hazards and waste management phases. | en_US |
