| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research was to analyze the reasons why the Indonesian
government privatize the Krakatau Steel and also to know the advantages and
disadvantages of privatization of Krakatau Steel. The results of this research showed
that the privatization of Krakatau Steel made by the Indonesian government which
based on some reasons, namely to gain capital funds, for efficiency and productivity,
as well as the need of fund of joint venture Krakatau-Posco. The advantage of
privatization of Krakatau Steel was getting additional capital funds for operational
company with amounting to Rp 2.59 trillion, while the disadvantage was getting
additional capital funds that less than the maximum and did not meet the expectations
of the government's privatization of Krakatau Steel was expected to receive the
results of 3-4 trillion. Krakatau Steel as the largest integrated steel producer gave a
major impact in the national steel industry. Thus, the increasing of the overall
performance of Krakatau Steel was expected to come from privatization.
