| dc.description.abstract | Recently, the issue of humanism has been discussed frequently, because the value
of humanism in society has begun to fade due to individualism, materialism, and
other views of life that are contrary to the noble values of an independent country.
The perspective of religion as a reason for human life to interact with other humans
can foster the values of humanism that exist in society. Literature learning functions
as a character builder for students. Therefore, this study discusses the values of
humanism contained in the Nyala Semesta Novel by Farah Qoonita so that it can
be used as an alternative material for learning literature in high school. The
theoretical basis for humanism used is the value of Islamic humanism based on Ali
Syari'ati's perspective. This study is a qualitative study with a pragmatic approach
to literary criticism research design. The results of this study indicate that in the
Nyala Semesta novel by Farah Qoonita there are humanism values: the value of
human dignity which includes human efforts to achieve ideals through higher
education and human efforts to maintain self-esteem; the value of empathy and
solidarity in the form of family ties, loyalty, and mutual assistance; and the value
of freedom of thought and action which includes the right to religion (Hifzhud-din),
the right to protect the soul (Hifzhun-nafs), the right to protect reason (Hifzhud-
‘aql), the right to continue the lineage (Hifhun – nasl), the right to protect property
(Hifzhul-mal). The results of this study can be used as an alternative material for
