    Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of jackfruit seed extract (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) on the histological structure of the kidneys of male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by alloxan at a dose of 160 mg/Kg BW, evaluate its nephroprotective effect, and determine the feasibility of research results as a book chapter for scientific literature development materials. This study used a Completely Randomized Design with six treatment groups, namely negative control (K-) which was only given distilled water, positive control (K+) which was given glibenclamide, and four treatment groups each given jackfruit seed extract at a dose of 100 mg/Kg BW (P1), 200 mg/Kg BW (P2), 300 mg/Kg BW (P3), and 400 mg/Kg BW (P4) orally for 14 days. After treatment, the test animals were euthanized, and the kidneys were isolated for histology analysis. Kidney tissue preparations were observed using Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) staining with a 400x magnification light microscope in five field of view per replicate. Scoring data on the level of necrosis and fatty degeneration were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, which showed significant differences between groups, then continued with the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the administration of jackfruit seed extract in doses of 300 mg/Kg BW was effective in improving the histology of the kidneys of white rats that experienced hyperglycemia, with an effect comparable to glibenclamide treatment in the K(+) group.
