Reliability and accuracy of un-computerized direct shear apparatus which is manually in both test running and data acquisition were observed. Step by step of the direct shear test was examined closely to investigate the possibility point in which the errors occurred. The results show that human factor is the crucial one to affect reliability and accuracy of the geotechnical data obtained. Not only the moment during test, but also the order of test batches could lead to deliver the error data. Some recommendations is proposed to minimize the source of error on conducting un-computerized direct shear test to produce reliable and accurate geotechnical dataen_US
