Profil Antisipasi Siswa SMP dalam Mendefinisikan Segi Empat Berdasarkan Kemampuan Matematika
Abstract
Anticipation was one of the attitudes that helped students in solving the problems they faced. Defining quadrilaterals was one of the problems students faced in geometry learning. That problem could equally occur to students with low, medium, or high mathematical abilities. Therefore, students needed to make good anticipations in order to solve problems accurately. Analytic and explorative anticipations were good anticipations for students to carry out in problem-solving. This research aimed to describe the anticipation profile exhibited by junior high school students in defining quadrilaterals based on their mathematical abilities. The data collection method was conducted through an anticipation test on defining quadrilaterals and an in-depth interview. The subjects in this research consisted of three 8th-grade students from SMPN 1 Kalibaru with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities. This research concluded that the student with high mathematical abilitiy was classified as having exploratory anticipation, where the definition of a quadrilateral obtained was correct. The student with moderate mathematical abilitiy was classified as having impulsive anticipation, where the definition of a quadrilateral obtained was less accurate. The student with low mathematical ability was classified as having interiorized anticipation, where the definition of a quadrilateral obtained was also less accurate.
