dc.description.abstract | Cardiovascular diseases, especially hypertension, are still significant heart problem on the
worldwide and cause a variety of symptoms such as headaches, heart palpitations, vertigo, and
blurred vision. Persistent headaches in hypertensive patients often require treatment, and cause
acute pain nursing problems. One of the interventions to reduce this pain is Slow Stroke Back
Massage (SSBM) with Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). This case study aims to identify the effect of
SSBM with VCO on the reduction of acute pain in hypertensive patients. The participant was
Mr. L, 64 years old, with grade 1 hypertension who was treated at dr. Haryoto Lumajang
Hospital. The intervention was carried out for 5 consecutive days, once a day, with a duration of
3-10 minutes. The results showed a decrease in the pain scale from 7 to 1. The goal was achieved
by reducing pain complaints, protective attitude, restlessness, and improving pulse frequency.
Thus, Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM) with Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is quite effective in
reducing pain in hypertensive patients who experience acute pain | en_US |
