Profil Berpikir Siswa SMP dalam Menyelesai Masalah Bangun Ruang Sisi Lengkung Berdasarkan Level Van Hiele
Abstract
This research aims to describe the thinking profile of junior high school students in
solving curved solid geometric problems based on van Hiele levels. This type of research
is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. This research was carried out at SMPN
4 Jember class VII G. The research instrument used in this research was the VHGT test
(Van Hiele Geometry Test), problem solving tests, interview guidelines and validation
sheets. The data collection method uses tests and interviews. Subject determination is
carried out by administering the VHGT test (Van Hiele Geometry Test) and obtained 3
students at pre-visualization level, 11 students at visualization level, 14 students at
analysis level, and 2 students at informal deduction level. One student was taken from
each van Hiele level (visualization, analysis, informal deduction). The research results
obtained that students at the visualization level tend to have a conceptual thinking process
at the stage of understanding the problem, preparing a plan, implementing the plan,
checking again. Analytical level students tend to have computational thinking processes at
the stages of understanding the problem, formulating a plan, implementing the plan, and
checking again. Meanwhile, students at the informal deduction level tend to have semiconceptual thinking processes at the stages of understanding the problem, formulating a
plan, implementing the plan, and checking again. The benefit of this research for
researchers is that they can gain knowledge and experience regarding students' thinking
profiles in solving curved solid geometry problems based on van Hiele levels.
