Sistem Oikonim di Kecamatan Tempurejo Kabupaten Jember (Kajian Tradisi Lisan)
Abstract
The study of the oikonim system in the Tempurejo sub-district, Jember district was chosen because the research specifically discusses the toponymy of human habitation (dwelling) rather than territory. This study aims to find out the origin story of naming based on categorization of aspects in Tempurejo district, Jember regency, cultural values in the oikonim system in Tempurejo district, Jember regency, the function of the oikonim system in Tempurejo district, Jember regency, the relationship between historical heritage and village and hamlet names in the district Tempurejo, Jember regency, and the use of the oikonim system in the Tempurejo district, Jember regency as an alternative to learning Indonesian in class VII SMP/MTs.
This type of research is qualitative and uses an ethnographic design from Spradley. The data sources for this research were informants who were in the Tempurejo district, Jember regency, which included village heads, hamlet heads, traditional leaders, elders, community leaders who knew and understood the origins of village and hamlet names. The research data is information from observations, interviews and documentation.
The results of this study explain that: (1) there is a naming system categorization, including: embodiment aspects, social aspects, and cultural aspects. (2) there are cultural values related to human relations with God, cultural values related to human relations with nature, cultural values related to human relations with humans. (3) the function of toponymy includes: as a form of reminder, as a form of hope from the community, as a track record regarding environmental conditions. (4) the linkage of historical heritage with the names of villages and hamlets in the Tempurejo district, Jember regency, including Bandealit, Kraton, Kalisanen, Mandilis. (5) utilization of the oikonim system in the Tempurejo district, Jember regency as an alternative learning in Indonesian Language and Literature in SMP/MTs class VII odd semester 2013 curriculum with legend/fable story material.
