Keanekaragaman Kepiting (Decapoda: Brachyura) di Pantai Rajegwesi Kabupaten Banyuwangi dan Pemanfaatannya sebagai Buku Ilmiah Populer
Abstract
Crabs are crustaceans that dominate in the tropics and subtropics with 7,746 species, 40 superfamilies, 114 families, 20 sub-genera, and 1,597 genera identified. The types of crabs that can be found in coastal ecosystems are the families Majidae, Portunidae, Porcellanidae, Xanthidae, Eriphiidae, Macropthalmidae, Pilumnidae, Grapsidae, Dromidae, Gelenidae and Calappidae. Rajegwesi Beach is a beach with ecological conditions that support crab habitat and there is no data on the diversity of crabs in this location. Therefore, it is necessary to collect data related to diversity and habitat preferences to determine the types of crabs and habitat preferences as one of the conservation methods. The research method used is purposive random samping which divides the research locatioin into 3 stations and 9 plots. The research was conducted when the seawater was at its lowest ebb. Researchers have identified eight species from four families at the study site. The families that have been found are Grapsidae, Ocypodidae, Sesarmidae, and Oziidae. The Diversity Index found is medium at 1,1294 because there are several species can be found in several places ranging from station one to three. In addition, there are also those who have a preference for habitat in rocky, muddy, and sandy places. Abiotic factors also affect the life of crabs so it needs to be measured to determine the right abiotic factors for crabs inhabiting the location, then, there are also other factors that affect such as noise pollution, spilled fishing oil, and so forth.
