dc.description.abstractOne of the public sector organizations in Indonesia is PT Jasa Raharja Representative of Jember which is responsible for managing traffic accident insurance. This organization in the implementation of its duties and responsibilities brings good news and reviews from the public in the mass media, as evidenced in the compensation delivery report. The success of this organization is inseparable from the contribution of all employees who carry out their duties and responsibilities well, as evidenced by the awards received. Researchers assume that horizontal communication plays an important role in employee performance. Horizontal communication helps employees in establishing relationships between coworkers so as to save time and make it easier to coordinate tasks and responsibilities. Therefore, researchers suspect that there is an influence of horizontal communication on the performance of employees of PT Jasa Raharja Representative of Jember (H_1). This study aims to examine the effect of horizontal communication on employee performance at PT Jasa Raharja Representative of Jember. This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative research strategy. The sample used was all employees totaling 16 people. Determination of the sample using census sampling technique. Data collection tools using questionnaires with nonparametric data analysis techniques. The results showed that there is a strong and significant relationship between horizontal communication and employee performance, because the spearman rank correlation coefficient value is 0.656 (**) and Sig (2-tailed) is 0.006. Researchers also tested the hypothesis using the t test with a confidence level of 95% (α = 5%), the t test showed the value of t_table < t_count (2.145 < 3.936) then the hypothesis (H_1) is accepted. The amount of free influence given by horizontal communication on employee performance (dependent variable) is 50.9%, while the rest is influenced by other variables.en_US
