In English classes, the teacher has an active role in teaching the language skills. Hence, it is the responsibility of language teachers to select appropriate materials for English classes, specifically in countries where L1 is spoken the most. In response to this, teachers might consider using classroom techniques when teaching English to get students engaged and make them interested in the teaching-learning process. There have been some studies about the classroom techniques used to teach English. However, there are not many that put focus on the technique used to teach English based on the newest Merdeka Curriculum. Furthermore, to the best of my knowledge, not much research in Indonesia used interviews to gain more in-depth data about the teachers’ reasons for using the techniques.en_US
