    Abstract
Starting from the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic, academic institutions are forced to change their form of learning. The sudden change of learning method caused educators to need more preparation for choosing useful English online learning activities. Many studies about students’ opinions on online language learning have been conducted to gather information about students’ opinions of the online learning. However, there are still few studies that focus on exploring students’ opinion on the English online learning activities that they think most useful. This study was intended to explore students’ opinions about the useful English online learning activities that could help them make the English online learning more effective. The analysis process will conclude with six steps of thematic analysis, which are becoming familiar with the data, generating initial codes, searching for themes, reviewing themes, defining themes and writing-up. Qualitative data analysis software, NVIVO14, was used to help generate codes and themes that made up the findings. Based on the findings of this research, there are five main themes of students’ opinions on the useful English online learning activities, namely, Language component learning, Language learning strategies, Content language learning, Language material learning and Language skills learning. The findings have revealed students’ opinions on the useful English online learning activities, which answer the research question. However, there is also limitation of this research, the participants of this research are limited on a particular university department, which limit the generalizability of the findings to broader academic context and broader populations.
