Peran Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) dalam Upaya Pemberantasan Polio di Pakistan Tahun 1994-2022
Abstract
Pakistan is one of two countries in the world that have not been able to completely eradicate polio in their country. As a developing country that lacks the resources to eradicate polio independently, Pakistan has decided to cooperate with GPEI, an public-private partnership institution whose goal is to eradicate polio worldwide. Cooperation between Pakistan and GPEI was established in 1994. And that cooperation has lasted until now. In this long period of time, the GPEI has certainly played a crucial role in the efforts to eradicate polio in Pakistan. For this reason, this article will review the role of GPEI in efforts to eradicate polio in Pakistan. The author uses the Public-Private Partnership Concept as a tool to analyze GPEI’s role in the polio eradication effort in Pakistan from 1994 to 2022. This article uses the qualitative method as the method to analyze the data and uses literature studies as the data collection technique. GPEI has four roles in the effort to eradicate polio in Pakistan: advocacy role, R&D role, technical assistance role, and funding role.
