Hubungan Mekanisme Koping Dengan Tingkat Kecemasan Perempuan Menopause Di Desa Kesilir Kecamatan Wuluhan Kabupaten Jember
Abstract
Menopause is the cessation of the menstrual cycle due to decreased estrogen and progesterone hormone. Decreased estrogen hormones will cause physical and psychological symptoms in menopausal women. Psychological impacts experienced by menopausal women is an anxiety. The most important factor in solving the psychological impact of anxiety symptoms is by using coping mechanisms. The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation of coping mechanism with the level of anxiety of menopausal women in Kesilir Village Wuluhan District, Jember Regency. This research used an observational analytic design with cross-sectional approach with total of 84 respondents were obtained by using consecutive sampling technique. The data were collected by employing a questionnaire of coping mechanisms and a Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale questionnaire to measure the anxiety levels. Data analysis are carried by using Spearman-rank correlation test with significance level of 0,05. This significance level showed that 43 menopausal women had adaptive mechanism of female adaptive menopause (51,2%) and 37 women had mild anxiety (44,0%) with p value 0,001 and correlation (r) +0.408. The correlation positive with the value of medium strength which means the better the coping mechanism, the lower the anxiety level of menopausal women. This finding indicates that it is significance to use coping mechanisms to reduce the anxiety level of menopausal women. In this research, a nurse has important role as an educator to give health education regarding the menopaus. This suggests that the importance of using coping mechanisms to reduce the anxiety level of menopausal women.
