Study of Vitamin D and Orthodontic Tooth Movement
Abstract
Orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) occurs during the bone remodeling sequence that is induced by therapeutic mechanical stress. It has been known that some meterials and medicines can affect the acceleration of orthodontic tooth movement. Vitamin D and its active metabolite, which is 1,25 (OH) D3, together with Parathyroid hormone and calcitonim, regulates the amount of calcium and phosphorus levels. The purpose of the study was to observe the effect of vitamin D towards the acceleration of orthodontic tooth movement.
