Abstract
The research design was descriptive because it was intended to describe the second year students' tenses mastery through reading texts covering Simple Present 'Tense, Simple Past Tense, Future Tense, and Present Continuous Tense at SMP Negeri Jember in the 2004/2005 academic year.
