PENGARUH SELF ESTEEM TRAINING TERHADAP PENYESUAIAN DIRI LANSIA MENJALANI MASA PENSIUN PADA WARGA PERUMAHAN PROBOLINGGO INDAH KOTA PROBOLINGGO
Abstract
Retirement is a condition which a person stops employment completely. No salary
like before. Not all of retirees can deal with this condition. Many problems rise
and disturb the development of elderly self adaptation on retirement. Self esteem
training is one of action to help the retirees to accept the retirement
condition. The study aim was to identify the effect of self esteem training against
elderly self adaptation on retirement. The design of this study was pre
experimental research with one group pre test and post test design. This study
used purposive sampling with 20 respondents. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was
used analized data. The subjects were given three training sessions two times a
day. The result shown 7 (35%) espondents had good self adaptation before self
esteem training. After the training, there were 16 (80%) espondents shown good
self adaptation. There is significant effect of self esteem training to elderly self
adaptation with 95% CI (α = 0.05) -value 0.003 <α (0.05) as a result. The
research conclusion is self esteem training can be used to improve elderly self
adaptation on retirement. The study recommend on the needs of further research
and the use of this training as one of the psychological nursing interventions in
providing care to elderly retirees.
