PERBEDAAN PENGGUNAAN POVIDONE IODINE 1% DENGAN NACL 0,9% SEBAGAI DEKONTAMINASI ORAL TERHADAP KOLONISASI STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS PADA PASIEN POST OPERASI DENGAN GENERAL ANESTHESIA DI RUANG MAWAR RSUD dr. ABDOER RAHEM SITUBONDO
Abstract
General anesthesia can weaken respiratory muscles, which may cause
accumulation of secret in oropharynx. Lack of oral hygiene habits in post
operative patients is one of risk factors which increasing growth of normal flora,
e.g Staphylococcus aureus. One of nursing intervension to decrease colonization
of Staphylococcus aureus growth is doing oral decontamination. This study
wanted to analyze the differences of using povidone iodine 1% and NaCl 0,9% as
oral decontamination to the colonization of Staphylococcus aureus of post
operative patients with general anesthesia in the Mawar Ward RSUD dr. Abdoer
Rahem Situbondo. Design used non equivalent control grup with consecutive
sampling. There were 20 respondents as sample that is divided into two groups,
10 respondents in two weeks earlier as treatment group using povidone iodine 1%
and 10 respondents within next two weeks as a control group using NaCl 0,9%.
Data analyze used Wilcoxon match pairs test and Mann whitney u with 95% CI.
Results showed that there were differences Staphylococcus aureus colonization
before and after using povidone iodine 1% (p value 0.008) and NaCl 0,9% (p
value 0.046). Furthermore, to decrease the colonization of povidone iodine 1%
more effective than NaCl 0,9%, supported by Mann whitney u test (p value 0.044).
Nursing implementation to the post operative patients with general anesthesia is
giving motivation and education about the importance of oral decontamination
using povidone iodine 1%.
