PENGARUH PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN PADA REMAJA TERHADAP STIGMA TENTANG ORANG DENGAN HIV/AIDS (ODHA) DI SMA SULTAN AGUNG KECAMATAN PUGER KABUPATEN JEMBER
Abstract
AIDS is a sign and symptom of a disease caused by HIV. The HIV virus is a virus which
can decrease the immune system. AIDS is a condition of the onset of various diseases due
to decreased immune system caused by the HIV virus. HIV infection to AIDS condition
takes 5 to 10 years. AIDS has no cure till now. Avoiding transmission of HIV is the only
way that can be used to prefent AIDS. Excessive fear of the HIV virus makes people
stigmatized and steer away from PLWHA. Stigma is a bad look for others. Stigma arises
due to the lack of correct knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Health education can be aplied to
improve the knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Health education given to adolescence, because
adolescence experiencing rapid cognitive development. Adolescent health education are
expected to provide the correct knowledge about HIV/AIDS, so that teens are not
stigmatized against PLWHA, and does not discriminate against them in the future. This
study investigated the effect of health education on adolescents of stigma on PLWHA. It’s
a pre-experimental study with static group comparison design. The samples are 80
samples divided into 40 samples in treatment group and 40 samples in control group.
Data were acquired by questionnaire on stigma regarding PLWHA and analyzed by Mc
Nemar and Chi Square (x2). The research results showed that the p value was 0.031
(0.031<α=0.05), so it can be concluded that there is influence of health education in
adolescences on stigma regarding PLWHA.
