A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON HARRY POTTER AND LORD VOLDEMORT’S PERSONALITY IN J.K. ROWLING’S HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS
Abstract
This thesis discusses about A Comparative Study on Harry Potter and Lord
Voldemort’s Personality in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In
this final book, the seventh installment of The Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling
unveils in spectacular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so
eagerly awaited.
There are some interesting problems to discuss. The first is finding the
similarities and the differences of the main characters and supporting
characters’personality and the second is the effect of different and similarity of their
personality in wizarding world.
The main characters and the supporting characters are the objects of the
analysis, this thesis uses psychological approach to explore Harry Potter and Lord
Voldemort’s personality. The method in this thesis uses inductive method; it means
the analysis goes from particular idea to the general idea that concern with
identifiying differences of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort, identifiying similarities
of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort, identifiying the effect of similarities and
differences of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort’s Personality in Wizarding World.
Further it will be explained deeper about a comparative study on Harry Potter
and Lord Voldemort’s personality in the novel Harry Potter and the Deathly

Hallows. The purpose at the study is to analyze personality of Harry Potter and Lord
Voldemort in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This thesishas
close relation with personaliy theory especially the Id, Ego and Super ego. Harry
Potter dominant with Super Ego. It makes good effect to Harry Potter’s life and
causes good character of himself. Lord voldemort dominant with Id because he
cannot control his ambition. It makes bad effect to Lord Voldemort’s life causing bad
Temperament of the character Lord Voldemort.
