PENGARUH IMPLEMENTASI TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT TERHADAP PENINGKATAN MUTU LEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN (STUDI KASUS PADA UNIVERSITAS JEMBER)
Abstract
Within recent periods of years, a large number of researches on Total Quality
Management have existed in the field of education. Total quality Management can
increase not only product quality of a company, but also quality of an educational
institution. Total Quality Management in the field of education is undertaken based
on four main principles formulated by Hensler and Brunnel, they are focus on
customers, respect for every person, fact-based management, and sustainable
improvement.
This research is aimed at identifying how much management commitment of
an educational institution is in realizing Total Quality Management as a strategy in
competing in improving quality of the educational institution itself as well as at
analyzing how much the influence of implementation of Total Quality Management
on quality improvement of an educational institution.
This research is in purpose of examining hypothesis, in which the data used
were primary data obtained from conducting a field study through questionnaire on
the investigated object; it was University of Jember.
Based on the research findings and discussion, it can be concluded that
partially not all variables in the implementation of Total Quality Management
provided influences on quality improvement of an educational institution. Only
variables of focus on consumer, respect for every person, and fact-based management
influenced quality improvement of the educational institution.
