    Abstract
There are only three main problems to discuss in this thesis. First, it is about Mrs. Clandon's attitudes. They consist of her attitudes toward her family and her attitudes toward the main problems in her family. The second is about the causes of her attitudes and the last is about the effects of Mrs. Clandon's attitudes toward her family and herself. Mrs. Clandon's attitudes toward her family are caused by the experience of her unsuitable marriage and M'Comas' suggestion. They also have some effects to her family and to herself.
