Abstract: This study attempts to analyze the media construction of heroine figure in Suzanne Collins’s Mockingjay. In Mockingjay, television is medium to construct the discourse of heroine figure. This study focuses on the construction of heroine figure by television in District 13. The aim of this study is to find out the discourse of heroine figure in the novel in order to get an understanding of media construction of heroine figure. This study uses theory of representation with discursive model by Stuart Hall. This model emphasizes on the construction of discourse of heroine figure. It is related to the contextual condition about the construction of reality through American reality television. The result of this study is Katniss depicted as heroine figure who is constructed by television. The goal of this construction is to rebel against the Capitol and Snow’ authority as dominant power. This construction model intertwines with the development of reality TV which influences the mindset of the audiences relates to the ideal representation in life.
