Farm waste that can be utilized to be briquettes is cow dung and buffalo dung. The research conducted by using of bomb calorimeter conducted that the obtained the cow dung spesific energy is 10.908 MJ/kg and the spesific energy of risk husk is 12.338 MJ/kg. Cattle and buffalo dung were taken from the farmer farm in Besuki Sub-district, Semboro Sub-district, Jember Regency, and risk husk were obtained from rice processing waste. Cow dung and buffalo dung as raw material fo briquette making is one alternative fuel solution. This research aimed to know the calorific value of buffalo dung and characteristic of briquette produced by cow dung and buffalo dung mixed with rice husk. This research was conducted from January 2016 to October 2016 at the Laboratory of Farm Machinery and Equipment Engineering Faculty of Agriculture Technology University of Jember and Renewable Energy Laboratory of Jember State Polytechnic. This research was conducted by comparison of cow dung, buffalo dung with, and rice husk charchoal were 20 gr, 80 gr, and 50 gr and with the adding of tapioca starch solution. The observations buffalo dung spesific energy and the briquete spesific energy, ash content, moisture content, flame duration of briquette, and maximum temperature from both type of briquete. The results obtained analyzed using the T-test. Based on the using bomb calorimeter, the specific energy of buffalo dung was 3275,67 cal/gr. The value of briquete specific energy, ash content, moisture content, and maximum temperatue from buffalo briquettes was superior, only in terms of of flame duration the cow briquete was superior. Buffalo briquetes specific energy was 2658,65 cal/gr and cow briquette was 2599,16 cal/gr. The ask content of buffalo briquete was also less with the value of 127 gr and cow briquete was 138.25 gr. Buffalo briquettes was also had less water content was (5.99%) and cow briquete water content was (8.55%). Buffalo combustion briquete were depleted quickly in 150 minutes but the temperature was higher (208.13º C) compared with cow briquete with a long time of combustion (210 minutes) with a maximum temperature of 207º C. The T-test showed that the characteristics of buffalo briquete and cow briquete spesific energy, ash content and moisture content were significantly different, while the flame duration and the briquete temperature were not different.en_US
