Peranan Sektor Industri Kecil Terhadap Sosial Ekonomi Pengrajin Sangkar Burung Di Kecamatan Sukowono

Abstract

The main problem of the economic and social development’s central issues for the few years, which can be continuously observed in Indonesia is the problem of people economy empowerment and poverty. This research is purposed to acknowledge the condition of bird cage craftsperson’s social economy and to know internal and external supports in bird cage crafting development, which has been affecting such sectors: income, the business’ duration, capital, output value, last education, goods distribution, training, saving, children’s last education. It uses field kind of research, descriptive qualitative analysis method, and utilizes primary (field observation) and secondary data. The result of the research shows that the social condition of bird cage craftsperson are guaranteed, it can be seen from their children’s last education, which reached University stage. The craftsperson’s economic condition is promising. It can be seen from the income, which above the Jember district minimum wage. External and internal factors are also affecting the development. The internal factors are: labors, asset, and technology. Capitalization influences the income, and skillful labors affect the bird cage they have made. The external factors are: the availability of raw material, government’s role, and the environment. Government’s role are satisfying, it can be seen from the training and capitalization from the government. The environment also gives good impact to the industry. It can be seen from how long the industry runs, which 64% informants run the industry for 17-25 years. It means that the supports from Sukowono’s people are suitable for the industry.
