Pengaruh Ekstrak Buah Anggur Hitam (Vitis Vinivera L.) sebagai Bahan Pembersih Gigi Tiruan terhadap Perubahan Warna Resin Akrilik Polimerisasi Panas (The Effect of Grapes (Vitis Vinivera L.) Extract as Denture Cleanser on The Color of Heat Cure Acrylic Resin)

Abstract

ackground. Aestethic is one of the most i mportant requirement of the patient nowadays. Full denture consists of bases and artificial teeth. The most commonly used base materi als is acrylic resin. Cleansi ng methods using chemicals can cause damage to the physical properties of acrylic resins. Natural materials that can be used as denture cleanser is grape extract. However, grape contains antosianin which can affect the color. Objective: to investigate that grape extract in various concentrations can affect the color of acrylic resin. Methods: 20 samples of acrylic resin were divided into 5 groups that were soaked by 1) aquadest, 2) 12,5 % ,3) 25 %, 4) 50 %, and 5) 100% grape extracts. After 11 days and 10 hours, the color changes in acrylic were examined by comparing i ts color’s score before and after immersion. Results: There was a significance color change of acrylic resin which soaked in grape extract (p<0.05). Conclusion: Grape extract influenced the color of acrylic resin.
