dc.description.abstract | Cavity preparation in dental filling and root canal preparation in root canal treatment procedure will create a smear layer. meal' layer inhibit dental material bonding to the cavity and sealer to the root canal dentine wall. Thus thesmear layer hould be cleaned up to optimize the dental material bonding using dentine conditioner. One of the common used dentine conditioner is 10% polyacrylate acid for the tooth crown, and H202 3% for cleaning the root canal treatment dentine. The natural material could be used as an alternative material to minimize the side effect of chemical material above is 100% angosteen pericarp extract. The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of 100 % Mangosteen pericarp extract in cleaning the smear layer on the crown dentine dan root canal dentine. It was a laboratory experimental study. The crown dentine samples were 10 superior first premolar with class 1 cavity preparation in the one third buccal nter, round shape with 2 mm of diameter and 2 mm depth. Five samples were applicated with 10% polyacrylate acid and five samples were applicated with 100% Mangosteen pericarp extract for 20 seconds then irrigated and dried. The root canal dentine samples were 10 superior first premolar with conventional preparation. Five samples were explained with 100% Mangosteen pericarp extract then irrigated with sterile aquadest, and five samples without explained to 100% angosteen pericarp extract but directly irrigated with H202 3%. After being dried samples then examine for the cleaning of the smear layer with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with 3500x magnify. The results showed the cleanliness of the smear layer on the samples applicated with 100% Mangosteen pericarp extract had the same level of cleanliness between crown dentine and root canal dentine. 100% Mangosteen pericarp extract cleaned crown dentine smear layer better than 10% polyacrylate acid. 100% Mangosteen pericarp extract cleaned the root canal dentine smear layer better than H202 3%. | en_US |
