Abstract: | Recently, atherosclerosis is the most common cause of death in the world. Atherosclerosis involves the formation in the arteries of lesions that are characterized by inflammation, lipid accumulation, cell death and fibrosis. Immune responses participate in every phase of atherosclerosis. Both innate and adaptive immunity are involved in that process. Lesions of atherosclerosis contain cells of the immune response, such as macrophages, T cells. |
