Abstract: Baluran National Park (BNP) is a nature conservation area that is geographically located at the eastern tip of Java Island and is a habitat for several groups of animals, such as mammals, avifauna, and herpetofauna. Herpetofauna is a group of vertebrate animals consisting of classes such as amphibians and reptiles. There are still very few scientific reports regarding herpetofauna in BNP, especially in the Bama coastal forest, which is suspected to be a suitable habitat for herpetofauna. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the species diversity of herpetofauna in the Bama coastal forest of BNP. Data collection was carried out in three observation tracks on three observation days (5-7 May, 2023). The method used is the Visual Encounter Survey (VES). Data analysis was determined by three approaches, including identification and verification, species composition, and the Sahnnon-Wiener diversity index of herpetofauna. The results recorded 17 species of herpetofauna in the Bama coastal forest BNP, consisting of 6 amphibian species such as Fejervarya limnocharis, Ingerophrynus biporcatus, I. parvus and 11 reptile species such as Cryptoblepparus balinensis, Cyrtodactylus marmoratus, Dendrelaphis pictus, Draco sp.. Furthermore, the diversity index of herpetofauna is medium (H' = 2.39). This result is due to both ecological parameters, such as the species richness (moderate level) and the abundance of each species (evenly distributed). According to this result, the Bama coastal forest is one of the appropriate habitats for herpetofauna species in Baluran National Park due to medium diversity of herpetofauna.
