Abstract: Sugar is one of the basic human needs, the increasing production of sugar will also increase the amount of waste produced. The sugar industry produces liquid waste and solid waste in the form of bagasse, liquid waste that is thrown into rivers can cause pollution and damage the life of river microorganisms. Sugarcane bagasse contains cellulose and lignin which can be used as adsorbent to treat wastewater pollution and also kale plants have roots which can be used as phytoremediation medium which has the ability to absorb pollutants in rivers. Aims of research is to determine the effect of the combination of sugar cane bagasse adsorbent and kale hydroponic water spinach in dealing with sugar industry wastewater pollution in rivers. The research method used was a completely randomized design with 2 factorials, namely the amount of adsorbent (1%, 3%, 5%) and the length of contact time of the adsorbent (6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours) which was settled using waste water. The results of the research that has been carried out show that the ammonia value is 0 mg/L, the TSS value is 150 mg/L and the COD value is 254 mg/L. The conclusion of this research is that the combination of sugarcane bagasse adsorbent and hydroponic water spinach can be effective because there is a decrease in the effectiveness value of the parameters, namely the ammonia parameter, the value decreases by 75%, the TSS parameter decreases by 37%, and the COD parameter decreases in value by 82%.
