dc.description.abstractSources of electrical energy in Indonesia are dominated by fossil fuels which are not eco-friendly and non-renewable which can cause an energy crisis. The use of renewable energy is needed to face the energy crisis and reduce the greenhouse gas effect or carbon emissions due to the use of fossil fuels. Good wastewater treatment can be an environmentally friendly energy source. Waste water treatment can be through MFC technology which can directly produce electrical energy through microbial metabolism processes. This study aims to improve the performance of MFC by modifying the anode using aluminum coated with a TiO2-Graphite composite with variations in the percentage of graphite mass of 85%, 70%, 55%, and 40%. The process of making TiO2-Graphite composites uses the hydrothermal method and the coating process uses an acrylic binder as an adhesive. Then the modified anode is applied directly to the MFC. MFC performance measurement with voltage (V) and electric current (I) using a multimeter. The measurement results show that the type of anode that produces the most optimal MFC performance is an aluminum anode coated with a TiO2-graphite composite (85%). This is because the TiO2-Graphite composite (85%) can produce a maximum power and power density of 0.641 mW and 320 mW/m2.en_US
