Abstract: | Urban heat island (UHI) is a tendency for urban centers to have a warmer surface temperature than suburbs or rural areas. The increase in population and the uncontrolled expansion of built space in Kendari was suspected that UHI has occurred. This study aims to identify UHI in Kendari for period 2001 and 2019. The method is brightness temperature (BT), which is extracting image value into temperature in Celsius Units, then determine the surface emissivity so land surface temperature (LST) is obtained. LST used to analyze UHI threshold and UHI index. If the mean LST is greater than the UHI threshold, then the research area is experiencing UHI, which is indicated by the UHI index was positive and > 3 oC. The results of the study in 2001 showed the LST value range was 19,099oC to 34,459oC. The UHI threshold at 25.95oC and the UHI index si positive and > 3 oC in several areas, so at 2001 in Kendari UHI was occured with exposure area was 1.021% of total area. In 2019, LST value range was 14.27oC to 35.426oC, and UHI threshold at 24.6oC. UHI index was positive and > 3 oC in some areas, so that in 2019 the UHI had occurred with a wider exposure area was 18.92% of the total area. |
