dc.description.abstractObstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a chronic sleep disorder characterized by the cessation and repetition of breathing during sleep. This is often found in DM patients with obesity and autonomic neuropathy. This study aimed to identify the risk of OSA in type 2 DM patients. This study was a quantitative descriptive which involved 132 type 2 DM patients by using purposive sampling technique. The research was conducted from April to October 2019 in Internal Medicine Unit of Level III Baladika Hospital Jember. Subjects were assessed for OSA risk using the Berlin questionnaire. The result obtained that 84 subjects (63.6%) were classified as high risk OSA and low risk of as many as 48 subjects (36,4%). Nurses can carry out their role as educator by conducting health education and counseling programs for patients with type 2 diabetes related to healthy lifestyles and the importance of controlling glucose levels to reduce the risk of symptoms of OSA.en_US
