Good mother assistance to child at school is one of efforts in establishing independence of preschool children. This research was intended to identify the correlation between mother assistance and preschool children independence level in several kindergartens. Research design used was correlational study applying the research type of analytical survey and cross sectional research design. The measurement tool used was observation sheet to measure mother assistance and child’s level of independence at school. Data collection in this research was supported by a number of numerators involving preschoolers who attended the program in 45 kindergartens in District of Kaliwates, Jember Regency. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive cluster sampling with the number of samples of 358 people. Based on the research, it was known that 297 (83.0%) children received good assistance, 33 (9.2%) of children obtained excessive assistance and 28 (7.8%) children got extremely excessive assistance. Meanwhile, in terms of level of independence of children, it was known that 237 (66, 2%) children were independent, 90 (25.1%) children were less independent and 31 (8.7%) children were not independent. Data analysis technique used in this research was chi square test, with significance level of p value = 0,001 (α= 0,005). It means there was a significantly associated between mother assistance with children level of independence.
