    Abstract
    John Donne is one of great metaphysical poets in the puritan period. the metaphysical style is his natural vehicle for expressing a sense of the tensions between matter and spirit, faith and reason. it is said that, Donne was also influenced by the intellectual excitement of age when the product of intellectual effort as much as the emotion knowledge and clevernes have partaking of seventeenth century poems characteristic.
