dc.description.abstract | This writing articles aimed to describe the psychological impacts of sanctions against santri
(students) at Pondok Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) Al-Ishlah in Sendang Agung Village,
District of Paciran, Lamongan Regency. A sanction is imposed against santri who violates rules
in Islamic boarding school Al-Ishlah, Sendang Agung Village, District of Paciran, Lamongan
Regency. The research used descriptive-qualitative method, and data were collected by
interview, observation and documentation. The research location was in Pondok Pesantren Al-
Ishlah, Sendang Agung Village, District of Paciran, Lamongan Regency involving studentss
(santri) as the research subjects who used to get a hit or non-hit as a sanction at Pondok
Pesantren Al-Ishlah. Data analysis used data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The
results showed that the sanctions applied at Pondok Pesantren Al-Ishlah were in the form of
physical and non-physical sanctions imposed by Kiai (cleric), ustadz (teacher), and boarding
school board. The sanctions imposed psychologically affected students in boarding school Al-
Ishlah, either positively or negatively. The positive impacts were that the students turned to
realize by themselves the mistakes of disobeying the rules, that students could improve their
behavior, that students were turned to be wary of sanctions which they got, so they gave up and
tried not to breach the rules again. Meanwhile, the negative impacts were that the students were
fear only of sanctions given by kyai, that feelings of revenge came up on those who imposed
sanctions as well as that the students became more and more stubborn | en_US |
