dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research was to describe the alternative policy that can be applied to protect
traditional markets in Jember Regency. Traditional market is an important part of the regional
economy; however, nowadays traditional markets are faced with competition with modern
market. This research was conducted at Market Department of Jember Regency, Sukorejo and
Tegalboto Markets, Jember Regency. The research used descriptive qualitative research design
with data collected through interviews, observation and document study. The research results
showed that traditional markets in Jember still are still in touch with the problems of the internal
markets which make traditional markets not able be to be at the same position as modern markets
because they are obviously different and difficult to compete with the modern markets. The
alternatives identified to protect the traditional markets from the downturn are such as regulation
of the modern market, market revitalization, and traders empowerment | en_US |
