dc.description.abstractThis research will discuss the increase in military capabilities of Brazil post enactment of 2008 National Defense Strategy. The enactment of 2008 defense strategy policy impacted the increase in military capabilities of Brazil in defense sectors of land, seas, and air. The focus of analysis in this research are reasons why Brazilian government increased its military capabilities. Noted on 2008 Brazilian government increased its defense budget and military expenses by 53 percent. The budget was the largest expenses over the last decades. This increase of military capabilities of Brazil is interesting to be observed because Brazil has a principle as a pacifist country. However with the signing of Strategy of Defense: Peace and Security for Brazil in 2008 indicated Brazil has wider national goals in South America region and internationallyen_US
