dc.description.abstractInternational politics constellation in the Middle East after the cold war put the United States as the country with the strongest influence. The dominance of the influence of the United States then had implications to threats other major country interests, namely Russia. Therefore, various attempts were made by Russia to build its influence in the region. The initial step of Russia is to establish a strategic relationship with Egypt with sales of main weaponry system when Egypt experienced defense aid freeze by the United States. The sales of main weaponry system is the first since the cold war era and marks the return of Russia as an influential actor by changing the position of Egypt which previously an ally of the United States. This study seeks to analyze the interests of Russia against Egypt in sales of main weaponry system by using descriptive qualitative research methods. Results of the study concluded that There are two Russian interests, namely, short-term interest is to secure the export of weapons and energy in the Middle East and long-term interest is to counterbalance United States influence in the Middle Easten_US
