Abstract

this article duscusses fishermen defend mechanism in facing formalin and borax usage in caughfishes. This issue is effect of increasing of oil fuel price. THis Studi is focused on fishermen at puger jember and explores some their creative efforts as solution in facing the issues. The result of thisstudy shows that appearance of the issue affect to income descreasing since fishes price also decreaces. the fishermen make some strategy and creative action as defend mechanism. such as: changing caughtresult orientation, making their boats multi- functioned, selling fresh fishes directly to consumers, and giving " not using formalin" as label at fishe's packages. it is sugessted thath the govermentshould haveotimum socialization about the dangerous of formalin and borax and give alternative solutions abaout additive material that is secure according to health aspect. besides it, the goverment should give capital empowering for the fishermen in order to make them can go to sea.
