dc.description.abstract | This thesis analyzes a novel, The Kite Runner. This novel is translated from
an English novel with the same title. The main discussion in this thesis is about the
main character’s personality. Betrayal has close relation with breaking the agreement
or trust that someone has given. It has led the main character to his conflicts in the
novel, The Kite Runner.
There are three problems to discuss in this thesis. First, how is the main
character’s personality. Second, what is the cause of the main character’s betrayal.
The last is what are the impacts caused by the main character’s betrayal. This thesis
uses psychological approach because the basic analysis is about the main character’s
personality that brings to his betrayal. This approach is relevant with personality
theory by Sigmund Freud, consisting of three elements of personality; they are Id,
Ego and Superego. Futhermore, the method of analysis in this thesis is inductive
method. It tries to analyze from specific facts to general facts. It means the discussion
begins with specific discussion about psychology within the short story and general
discussion about the theories of personality. | en_US |
