dc.description.abstractMarianne is the main character in the novel Out of the Ashes by Maisie Mosco. In the novel, Marianne experiences many conflicts. Marianne’s conflicts are inner conflicts. Inner conflict is included in the psychological conflict. The focus of this thesis is on what the inner conflicts of Marianne are; what their causes are; and What Marianne’s efforts to solve her inner conflics. This discussion analyzes the inner conflicts of Marianne from the point of psychological and sociological approaches. To use the psychological and sociological approaches, the thesis uses the social psychology theory of John C. Brigham. This thesis is about the inner conflicts that are influenced by social influence. The discussion uses inductive method which begins with the conflict that experienced by the main character as the specific discussion and the general discussion is the problem solving done by the main character. To discuss the conflict, the psychological approach is used and her conflict with other characters concerning with the family problems sociological approach is used. The result of this discussion is that someone cannot stay away from her family relationship however hard she wants to.en_US
